| STERTIL'S ERGONOMIC DOCK LEVELLER REDUCES MAINTENANCE COSTS AND IMPROVES OPERATOR SAFETY |

Dock equipment specialist Stertil Stokvis has launched the HW Ergonomic Dock Leveller. Featuring a patented lip design and an energy-absorbing rear hinge, the new HW leveller provides fast, smooth and safe movement of goods into and out of a wide range of vehicles.
The novel design of the HW leveller reduces and varies the crown angle between the lip and the platform, created by the special parallelogram hinge construction. This results in a much lower impact on materials handling equipment and a consequent reduction of around 50% in maintenance costs. Impact on the human body is also minimised thereby dramatically reducing the chance of injury and absenteeism. The construction of the rear hinge means it is sited as close as possible to the back of the leveller which reduces the hinge opening to the smallest possible dimensions, no matter what the platform position. A polyurethane strip in the hinge assembly enables it to absorb energy during loading and unloading operations. This further reduces impact both on employees and on the materials handling equipment, whilst at the same time lowering noise levels.
Stertil's standard features include high tensile steel construction for the platform, platform supports and lip, plus a panic stop device in the hydraulics system to halt and hold the platform in the event of unauthorised or accidental vehicle movement. The HW dock leveller's platform can twist 100mm through its length to accommodate sloping vehicle beds and, if necessary, the leveller can be parked with the vehicle still in position. A number of optional features is also available including a range of installation styles, insulation options for temperature-controlled buildings and the innovative Twaron-Polyurea anti-skid coating.
A significant reduction in noise levels can be achieved if the standard treadplate on the deck and lip is treated with Twaron-Polyurea anti-skid coating. This coating is highly slip-resistant and was specially developed for pallet trucks with hard wheels that often create excessive noise on hard tread plate or chequer plate. The Twaron-Polyurea coating transmits far less vibration than a conventional treadplate thereby reducing noise levels by as much as l6db(A), a benefit for both truck and driver.
Operation of the new HW dock leveller is simple: the control box incorporates a single button which, when pressed, moves the platform to its highest position and automatically extends the lip. When the button is released, the platform lowers until the lip rests on the floor of the truck. While goods are being moved, the leveller adjusts automatically to the height changes of the truck. Safety is assured by a lockable main switch on the control box which doubles as an emergency switch. |
